3 Golden Rules for Success at Later Living Design
Housing design for later living has plenty of scope to offer better options for the aging population of the UK. Now there is a gap between what the over 55 age group wants and what is on offer.
People are at the centre of everything we do, we foster and nurture a creative and innovative environment in which all excel.
Experience KSAIt’s been 10 years since the completion of our Code for Sustainable Homes Level 6 scheme in Southampton at Stoneham Green for Abri (Radian).
The first ‘Zero Carbon’ Homes to be delivered in Southampton, this multi award-winning scheme was opened by Kevin McCloud (Grand Designs) in 2012. Centred around whole lifecycle costs and reducing fuel poverty for residents, these highly insulated family homes follow a ‘fabric first’ approach to design to reduce heating demand and energy bills and are served by a selection of renewable technologies including a centralised biomass boiler, PV solar panels and Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR).
This was a fantastic scheme to be involved with, credit to Abri for their forward-thinking approach to sustainable design, Drew Smith for delivering the project and the entire design team for the success of this sustainable community which has been a catalyst for many other zero carbon schemes across our region.
